Killed by alcohol intoxication or by ethanol laced alcohol? Unless the police test the alcohol they will never know if a crime was committed.

Almost all people die without a crime being the cause.

According to the article, alcohol intoxication seemed the most likely explanation upon initial observation. Also according to the article, an examination was initiated to determine the actual, most likely cause(s).

That seems fair and (perhaps even overly) thorough.

It also makes the allusion of your post come out of the blue. What inspired it? The mere fact that it's not impossible, or that it's plausible for some reason? In the first case: what's the point of mentioning improbable possibilities? In the second case (more interesting but also less likely): what's that reason?

"Almost all people die without a crime being the cause."

Refreshing. I wish more people would post like this, calling out and quelling the typical quotidian nonsense.

My favorite to get people to actually think a little bit is: "if you smoke cigarettes all your life, there is a 70% chance that you will NOT die from it and an 85% chance that it will NOT shorten your life any, if at all."

(that's not meant to be an endorsement of smoking ciggies, just an object lesson)
