If they know there are Chinese gangsters living in Thailand under fake or semi-legit (marriage) IDs - why don't they just arrest and deport them? This must be just the tip of the iceberg and there are many more who go unreported. For now they target their own (Chinese) because it's easier, but if allowed to thrive, eventually they'll move on to other foreigners and Thais.

I would be putting my money on the immigration police. In a concurrent story, 3 of them are in custody for the abduction of two Chinese nationals, another is on the run. https://www.nationthailand.com/thailand/general/40025920

Hey let's hassle farang at Immigration (or just kidnap them if their documentation is lacking) whilst thousands of illegal Chinese Triad, Laos , Myanmar & Cambodian Overstayers & poachers roam the country.

Meanwhile businesses advertise for Myanmar staff who hold a work permit, when it is the business themselves who are supposed to arrange it, this indicates 'agents' & 'fixers' who are friends with Immigration Agents
