I’d be giving any employment agency that insisted the surrender of my passport a wide berth. Some Australian businesses have been complicit in these schemes. A couple of years ago there was a Korean employment agency making the same promises to prospective employees. Upon arrival in Australia their passports were confiscated and they were forced to work in appalling conditions for little or no pay. The companies employing them were suppliers of well known Australian brands. -
