Well....Jealousy is what we see from the superficial view. However there could be deep down there economical issue where families are trying to make ends meet and that could lead to a different avenue of looking for additional income, eventually will end up tragedy for both killing the family life.

In my opinion, This  type of events socially to be looked in to both angles of crime. most important is the motivation, what motivated the issue to escalate is bigger rather than the incident of crime. 

People switch their social life and ignoring the commitment is a basic loss of faith in the society. This is the basis of al the crimes, especially such crimes are loss of faith by both parties.
