Opening a Thai bank account for Immigration purposes.
I have recently tried to open an account with Bangkok Bank as my wife has an account there too. We were told to get the notorized affidavit from the British Consulate in Chiang Mai. I sent off an email to the consulate for information on how I go about doing this. This is the reply I got: Unfortunatley, we no longer provide notorial services in Chiang Mai. You will need to contact the British Embassy in Bangkok. More details can be found here: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/notarial-and-documentary-services-guide-for-thailand However, when you look around the website you and find the link "services we provide in Thailand" it clearly states as one of the services they do not provide... "Any form of affirmation, affidavit or statutory declaration to confirm identity, address, family relationships or marital status" which is, I believe what Bangkok Bank requested. There is another way around this but I'm putting it on hold for now as it's not overly important for me right now. -

News Forum - 2-year online romance ends when Swedish man dies in motorbike crash
Around 5pm near at Chang Peuack market going then straight down past the market this white foreign idiot I would say late twenties or early thirties was traveling overly extremely fast weaving in and out of heavy traffic going way way too close to bikes and cars. I was on a bike with my daughter and my wife on a bike a bit in front of us and he came less than 1/3 of a meter nearly hitting her. I think he had tank top on and shorts but also had a beige helmet on. He almost hit quite a few bikes and cars. I would have been more - more than happy to see this twerp break his neck, and I would have felt nothing but serves you right. Was it the same person? -

News Forum - 2-year online romance ends when Swedish man dies in motorbike crash
Unfortunately, these tragedies are all too common in Thailand. I was driving in Chiang Mai just this evening and witnessed a foreigner riding his motorbike far too fast with no crash helmet and weaving in and out of the traffic. Sunday evenings are usually quite busy due to the weekly market (walking street). I really don't understand why these people feel the need to speed through such busy areas, no matter how much experience they have. It's just plain crazy!
