I would be curious to one what the nett value of the Chinese tour groups is,  compared to other groups of tourists. In other words, how much of their spend is retained in Thailand, and how much of their spend is on goods and services that have been, or will be paid for, in foreign currency?

Well this is another fine mess! It makes me laugh every time we see another revelation about blatant corruption in the RTP or any other government agency. It may be part of a drive by Prayuth to present an image of being an effective securocrat but what has been revealed in the past few weeks is merely the dust on the top of the pyramid that is ingrained corruption in every single government department and agency. The fact that so much is going on now shows how the perpetrators feel a sense of immunity and carry on such deeds in full view of public life. Thailand is rotten to the very core of society and ordinary folk are powerless in the face of such high level endemic corruption. It will take more than an election to remove such practices, it requires a revolution in governance and moral standards.

This is nothing new of this offered escort service. It can be seen quite often even in CM usually leading Vans and busses. Anyone can get it but this Chinese gal was probably picked and targeted out because she more than likely was in the fast track first class lane and/or maybe had expensive looking designer items, not to leave out she is young and cute. Good thing is she wasn't in a group, but the bad thing she is a typical Tik Tok loud mouth probably self absorbed person but unfortunately streaming to her CCP country which in a sense advertises travel to the millions upon millions plus of them and they do it. Yuck!. I hope she is more better acting than majority of her country people, but I doubt it.

Chinese on low numbers traveling and behaving without being loud and obnoxious and actually knowing how to behave having respect keeping to themselves in general low key and well behaved are not the problem. It is when they swarm oozing in large to humongous numbers in groups inundating as an invasion (which it is) whole areas of cities with their crumby unhumble rude attitudes is where the negativity and disdain starts and will always remain. the biggest problem is you do not get one, you get an onslaught and this virtually changes attitudes and creates the dislike for the majority of them all.

Thai celebrate every occasion so this New Year festivity is nothing new.

The biggest worry is it is the year of the Rabbit, and we all know what rabbits do. Let's all hope they don't assimilate what rabbits do for good luck, or this world and all countries are going to be continually having to see and put up with their grotesque masses. Nothing ever comes from them traveling in huge numbers, just the opposite, and once the flood gates say for here or especially Chaing Mai are open it is never ending whcih is a huge shame as it ruins the demographics od what once was a nice place to be.

I hope this gal the article is about enjoyed her RTP escort instead of making it look bad as she did, because there is nothing not normal about it. I have even personally experienced it one time when I traveled in a 4 bus group going on an excursion. Have to say it was pretty cool!

I think the RTP may be on to something here. At least it gives them something to do that they are actually capable of doing.

Yeah maybe right. It is not like they were doing anything needed anyway by the looks of it.

Nit Noi, they fly in on totally organised, and paid for in China, Chinese plane, Chinese coaches and tours, Chinese hotels, Chinese owned restaurants and Chinese tourist shops.

They do let them out to get a massage or two in areas that do not exist according to RTP.

So maybe a small percentage get a foot massage. 300 baht.

This whole issue was raised some years ago and the Govt clamped down on the practice, guess the numbers coming are more important now to superficially strengthen the Baht.

It is like prostitution, or things that are almost like prostitution.  Of course the customer enjoys it.  There is nothing not normal about it.  Some have personally experienced it, and would say it is pretty cool.

But when one of the customers publicizes it, what do others think?

a Chinese tourist was given a police escort to sweep her and her mother from Suvarnabhumi International Airport to Pattaya.

Looks like the photo of the police in the article had nothing to do with it. Although you can't see all the script on the motorcycle, it appears to be the start of the word "Phuket".

They might get caught in the middle of the road, like a rabbit in the headlights. Or succumb to myxomatosis.

Ummm. I expect that she might be brought up on defamtion charges of putting a bad light and dark shadow on them as this seems to be a perfectly normal service that is widely known and seen all the time. Not sure about them doing it like a solicitation though.

Unfortunately like the Vietnam and Korean war, there are always more of them to come in the endless stream.
