And the majority of the Isuzu sales demographics point to Northeast Issan people?

Anywhere East of Bangkok is pickup territory.

Toyota has said the idea that everyone could easily dump gas-powered vehicles for electric ones, is simply not as feasible as activists and governments seem to imagine.

Particularly Pnut and Co. - whack heads that think Bangkok is the universe and anywhere outside that area needs an Avgas powered helicopter to visit.

Well, they only visit during daylight hours and leave very quickly after the photo sessions even though many have told them we have 4-star hotels and electricity.

First results on Google search; "No. There is no ban on the Toyota Hilux in the United States, and owning one is perfectly legal. However, remember that Toyota doesn't sell the Hilux in the US due to the high retail price due to taxes"

Second results; "Due to a tax policy imposed by the American government called the Chicken Tax, importing a light truck built outside the US requires a 25 percent tariff. This 25 percent jump in the cost makes the Hilux too expensive to compete with other compact pickup trucks in the US Market.Nov 29, 2565 BE"

Banned is a bit of an overstatement - The hi-lux initially had emission problems in the US and Toyota didn't build the truck there so it then incurred import duties as you d=said.

After that Toyota decided to concentrate on the Tacoma - a slightly larger vehicle they considered more suitable for the US market. Built in the US, it does really well.

The last few years with Covid have been strange for the Thai motor industry. Over half is now for export - I don't know how Toyota and Isuzu compare on that.

Pickups have fr a long time been subsidised by successive Thai governments - they are cheap to buy and had minimal road taxes

What a totally inappropriate picture to feature in this article... with the current ongoing push to reduce traffic accidents by the Thai government... Thaiger decides that it is OK to show a picture of a pickup truck that is dangerously overloaded and a significant hazard on any roadway.
