Thailand’s Board of Investment (BOI) has come up with new ways to attract more investment into Thailand. The board’s target is an easy-to-swallow group of companies dubbed “smart and sustainable”, according to the Bangkok Post. The government effort to create a “new” economy in Thailand is one that is focused, like almost every other Asian nation’s, on buzzwords. If this is what they call “Plans” then it’s going nowhere. It’s simply a list of catchy buzz words which may impress a few uneducated people, but it certainly won’t impress savvy investors. 
 

The part of the article that is spot on is where it states:

The measures have all the hallmarks of an inept government torn between a planned economy and allowing foreign investors to pillage whatever catches their marauding eye.

Didn’t we just see an example of this when the proposal to allow investors to own 1 Rai of land was met with outrage and kicked out?

Unfortunately for the vast majority of  Thais, their ruling masters are very comfortable with how things are. They wallow in the “Developing Nation” category and their families get richer and richer with each passing year. Most Thais have been brainwashed (educated) in to believing this is how life is and be happy. Go have another drink and dont worry about the cops catching you driving. Or go buy yourself some cannabis and don’t worry about being caught. Relax and keep on doing just the same as the past few hundred years.
