If we’ve learned anything from Elon Musk’s tumultuous slash-and-burn takeover of Twitter it’s that gutting essential workers can wreak havoc on a business. Or many in the airline industry have learned nothing. You only have to look at the circumstances with QANTAS Flight 32 some years ago to see how many Pilots you require. 

If they pull this one off, something to consider when booking your flights as to how many are on the flight deck.

This is a crazy idea and I do wonder if this is what is really being perused by the airline operators? 
 

There is no doubt the whole air travel industry needs to change and change drastically. Year after year there are more delays added to the whole process of travel by air. Perhaps this is the airlines attempt to stir the pot and get the debate moving? I recall some years back some airlines wanted to have aircraft towed to the runway rather than travel under their own power and burning fuel while queuing. That never materialised and neither will this idea.

Not going to happen without serious advances in remote control and auto piloting. The insurance companies would massively increase the cost of insurance for a plane worth upwards of $100 million plus liabilities if the responsibility for the equipment & lives rests in the hands of one human being.
