Police and national park officials arrested a Thai couple and seized four tiger cubs worth 2 million baht this morning in Mukdahan province in northeast Thailand. Despite officers luring the couple to arrest by posing as interested customers, they panicked and told police they planned on raising the tigers themselves. Thailand is currently tying to tell the world how they are "saving te Tiger" - this couldn't be further from the truth, they are still the hub for the despicable trade in wildlife.

They don't know where they came from, what a bunch of crock, there's a carcass out there with no pelt, a mother tiger would not let anyone or anything within a mile of her cubs without a fight.

If the cubs were taken from the wild, the mother will have been killed and the carcass most likely processed for TCM.

The other possibility is they were from a tiger farm. Baby tigers are a great draw in zoos etc so fetch a high price. Taking them from the mother is an important part of "speed breeding" - it forces the mother to come into season more quickly and provide another set of cubs for the smugglers.
