"these false allegations would push police to crack down and harm tourism again"... so by this bleat it would indicate that a police crackdown would find premises trading after hours, just as they have been since reopening. I am not the smartest boy, but I am willing to bet that bribes HAVE been paid to keep the cop from the door at 0200.

Message to bar owners: You aren't bribing the right people. Aim higher and get someone in the Junta with weight to sign off on increased trading hours... and get rid of the ridiculous 1400-1700 liquor curfew as well.

" both Pattaya Police and venue owners are denying claims of bribery and corruption"

Well that is a surprise the police claiming they don't take backhanders 555. Not sure who they think they are kidding but then of course this is the same police who I recall stating some while back that they found no evidence of prostitution in Pattaya.

Thailands corruption from the very top right through society is well known to ALL Thai citizens and to anyone who has visited Thailand (unless their eyes were firmly closed throughout their visit). Sadly until the corruption up the chain is sorted out there is no chance of the corruption down the chain being addressed, and of course there is no will by those earning from this corruption at the top of the chain to do anything about it.

And until this illegal Junta is dead and buried, with a legitimate government firmly in place, nothing will be done. As ChrisS states, it is evident at the VERY top of the pile and until they are gone, gone, gone, nothing will change.

Oh, and this just comes to light... of course, 'but they are not ours'...
