A recent interview with a UN specialist asserts that, in the battle of the invasion of Ukraine, Russian forces are using sexual violence against women as a strategy. UN Special Representative on Sexual Violence in Conflict Pramila Patten called violence such as rape a tactic of war in the Russian army’s playbook. War is brutal, and soldiers from countries worldwide have committed crimes and atrocities during times of war. But there’s a big difference between renegade soldiers on the ground committing a crime and a country’s army using atrocities as a strategy to get an edge on the battlefield. But […]

The story UN expert says Russian army uses sexual violence as a tactic as seen on Thaiger News.

I think that Russia is going to lose this war with Ukraine as it simply can't match the industrial base of Ukraine's supporters, and its own allies won't even try to do the same for it (where are those Chinese weapons?). Moreover, Ukraine is fighting for something; its sovereignty, its land, its culture and its life while Russia is fighting for Putin's ego and not much else.

It is going to be an ugly, bloody carnage for the next while until finally the will to continue in Russia is broken, likely through assassination of several of its leaders; yes, Putin especially.

Hopefully, the leaders of the Good Guys can manage the battle without letting it ever descend into the use of nukes; I think that they can, but would be so much more comfortable with some word stronger than 'Think'.

Post war, Russia is going to be a weak pariah state akin to a passenger on a crowded subway who has weapons-grade Body Odor, and the UN is going to be a prime reason for that.

Many people, myself included at times, have a low opinion of the UN, but it will be in the post war times when we see the value of the organization. Who else could go into Russia post-war and level accusations without be perceived as 'Too Vengeful'? Who else could go into Russia post-war and set up War Crimes trials without being seen as 'too Vengeful?' Who else could go into Russia post-war and assist Russia get back on its feet without raising too many suspicions of re-armament? If there is an election in Russia post war (and there will be), who else but the UN could run it and/or supervise and still have it regarded as 'Legitimate'?

"But the interview with AFP, shared by Thailand News, with the UN Special Representative said that the Russian army is using “deliberate tactic[s] to dehumanise the victims” as part of their military strategy. She mentioned victim testimonials that described Russian soldiers popping Viagra before raping and assaulting Ukrainian women."

And finally, in the post war reckoning, who else but the UN could raise the issue of rape as a weapon and a war crime and see it prosecuted?

It is easy to mock the UN (and I do it also), but we humans need an International Organization like it to manage things at times; everyone will bitch and whine about it, but if we didn't have it, we'd invent it. Simply put, someone is going to have to clean up this mess, and it is the UN that will get the job.

Like Democracy, the UN sucks but is better than all the other options.

"When you hear women testify that Russian soldiers are equipped with Viagra, it is clearly a military strategy.”

Great to see that Putin hasn't lost his compassionate touch by supplying the soldiers with Viagra, his troops are short of nowt they've got, apart from socks, body armour and other equipment.

But when they're fighting the Ukrainians they do need something to make them feel hard I suppose.

And the Thailand authorities refuse to condemn Russia for its invasion of Ukraine?  I hope potential tourists take note and go elsewhere.

Of course they are. Every other crap hole countries army uses the same tactics. Japanese in WW2 and Myanmar Army right now. Vile practice.

Including the US during the Vietnam War. Thailand not only did not condemn them at that time, they even lend them an airbase to use for striking the Vietcongs and enlarged Pattaya so that their GIs can release their urges rather than raping Vietnamese girls. The past and the present are just as horrible.

In my view, this war will end with Ukraine forgo the 4 provinces to go away, possibly because of drained support from allies and season.  Ukraine citizens have to adjust to new normal and forgo the territories they have lost, reason as russia has more arms and manpower, they can fight indefinetely, if more and more cities in ukraine is broke down steadily and when it comes to critical infrastructure fall, an final call needs to be taken, that time you can see few heros sprung up internally to finish a peace deal. Earlier it is better as ukraine can start the build up for future.

Never needed or used viagra I’m happy to say. However, no matter how good it is, I’m sure any decent human would loose an erection when you saw the terrified and petrified look on the faces of the women and girls you are about to rape. I’ve never understood what makes men rape woman. It is a cowardly and vile act that should be penalised with much stronger sentences. Our often casual attitude to it and the way it’s frequently portrayed in movies and TV series only serves to normalise it. To me, it’s a worst act that Necrophilia.

They did that appeasement with the Crimea and look what happened.

You cannot negotiate with a dictator like Putin. He will want more and more until there is nothing left. Then he will invade another country after that because he believes he will get even more.

So here is what is going to happen. The Ukraine will not stop fighting. The west will keep on supplying the Ukraine with weapons and money. They will not stop.

It would be better for Russia to realise this and stop fighting a pointless war started by an egotistical despot.

Thats because you dont think like a rapist Soidog. The fact is they get off on the fear and humiliation of their victim.

Disgusting I know but its what they are.

Sadly, this is an all too common tactic used throughout the millennia by invading armies to terrorize its enemies. Pitiful and reprehensible. Humans know no bounds on inflicting suffering onto other humans.

If you follow Pootin’s war you’ll find out they’re running out of missiles and hardware. They’re having to use tanks that are more than 50 years old and repurpose their antiaircraft S-300 missile systems to bomb Ukrainian cities. Their navy is cowering out of range because of their losses to superior weapons. Their mobilised troops don’t want to fight and are poorly trained and equipped. The winter will se many Russians freeze to death. No Ukraine doesn’t have to give up it’s land to Russian barbarians.

Seems like that the best revenge would be capture Putin, tie him up, knock out his teeth, and have 2 big guys put their big tool's into his mouth and rearend while being live on the net. Then have a lottery and the winner gets to put a bullet into his head. Rape is not ok! But for him it would be just fine.

But you just had them give up their most productive and resource rich land. You also had them give up their internal water way, greatly decreasing their chance to generate capital. Never mind giving up those four Obalsts will allow Russia to attack again from more advantages positions.  Basically, your plan kills Ukraine's future. I have a feeling you knew that before you even wrote your post.

Such an absurd way of thinking.

Russia's arms - their most advanced systems, including S300 and S400 have been destroyed.  Their advanced tanks have been destroyed. Most of their precision missiles are estimated to have already been used.  What is now remaining is mostly inaccurate or dysfunctional kit from the soviet days. And, due to sanctions, they're unable to procure the necessary electronics to build new precision munitions.

Hell, they've even moved their ships out of the Black Sea.

Russia's manpower - Mostly conscripts. Mostly people who do not want to fight. They called for 300,000, but have only been able to round up about 100,000. Others have fled the country. Those who weren't able to leave Russia (the poor and disabled) make up the 100,000. They were told that instead of receiving payments from the government, their families back home would receive 5kg of fish (no joke).  If that's not bad enough, these conscripts were told they'd get months of training before being sent to the front lines. In reality, they're already being sent to the front, and with only basic field clothing and supplies. Literally, they're being driven into the front lines on bus and told to get out and fend for themselves. No boots, no jackets, no food, no sleep sacks. Broken, rusted, and moldy guns from WW2, expired rations.  We now see the results of that, as many of these conscripts are immediately surrendering once in Ukraine.

While Russia has spent a lot of money on it's military, there's also A LOT of corruption within the highest ranks of their military leadership. Much of the money distributed to the military for weapons R&D, manufacturing, and procurement gets diverted into the pockets of the Generals and Commanders. They're left with old shit

Where did you get this info?

Many people from Russia run, yes, correct. Where did you get info that they got only 100 thousand people from 300? There is 200 000 already done. In couple weeks number will be filled.

And yes, they call only people who have already experience in war (so, they don't need for additional training). Who don't have experience and have good health - they take it to administration work in border. No body push unexperienced people to fight. Where did you dig that info?
