Tourism officials say they are expecting to see more than three million travellers over this month’s two holiday periods. The four-day anniversary holiday of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great’s passing started on Thursday. Can someone  explain where all these figures are based from, its totally dead around bangtao in phuket. On another subject, does anyone know how much the departure tax is from Bangkok  airport?

Well they get 24.370 international tourists arriving by plane in 3 days. So that makes roughly 250.000 arrivals this month. I guess the other 2.750.000 are Thai doing trips in their own country.

But Phuket get more busy, every day. 

And the departure tax is still 700B and in your air ticket price included

In any developed nation the media would be all over such nonsense. The head of TAT would be on the news and being questioned why previous predictions and initiatives have come to virtually nothing and followed by the question …When are you going to resign?  
 

There is simply no performance related accountability in any government agency. They can make one outlandish statement followed by another and get away with it. The three cultural issues of loss of face, corruption and don’t challenge someone in authority, holds the country back in so many ways.
