A shootout between Royal Thai Police, army troops, and drug dealers led to one death, an arrest, and 4 million methamphetamine pills seized in a breath-taking, high-speed chase in Chiang Rai last night. Pha Muang Task Force narcotics suppression police and soldiers, tried to pull over a pickup truck with fake Chiang Rai licence plates at a road checkpoint at about 10.30pm yesterday on Phaholyothin Road in tambon Ban Du of Muang district. It's good finding the drugs and catching bad guys but they need to move up the ladder and catch the middle and top men.

Thailand is awash with yaba and even a few million tablets found is still a drop in the ocean unfortunately.

Unfortunately they are fighting a losing battle as while there big money to be made it will keep coming and it will become yesterday's news soon

Naff all chance of that, they are the ones with the corrupt officials in their pockets, they throw them a low level bone every now and then so that it looks like the plod are doing their job.

They have a tip off that drugs are going to be on a certain route at a certain time and set up a pathetic check point that can be breached by acceleration. Thus ensues a Police and possibly armed forces chase endangering others with a shoot out.  Dumb.

(Sorry the crims didn't get the memo that they are to be awe struck by the sight of the uniforms holding up their hands to stop.)
