I once tried that tactic with my mother when I was 6, I said if I don't get what I want I will leave home, in all fairness she did give me the bus fare.

Reminds me of the woman who interrupted an Abhisit speech, she had turned deaf due to a parasit infection and had to sell her body to support her family. Wonder if she got any help to get her cochlear implant...
