A new poll of university students revealed that Generation Z does not want an unelected Senate to be a part of the government anymore. Survey showed that by an overwhelming margin of 17 to one, the emerging generation does not want appointed officials. Unelected Senate doesn't just "hinder" Democracy - it completely voids it by definition. Unelected = not a Democracy. Hopefully one day Thais will get to have a real Democracy with really elected leaders, but it's not likely to be soon.
