With continued heavy rainfall, part of the ancient city wall of Chiang Mai collapsed. A section of the wall near the Chang Phuak Gate partially crumbled in last night’s storm. The ancient wall stood in Chiang Mai for about 750 years before collapsing in the rain. The Chiang Mai municipality was joined by authorities from the Fine Arts Department who hurried to examine the damage to the wall. What's needed is just another brick in the wall ... and some clean fill behind with adequate drainage.  Crikey, only lasted 700 years!

fact check a lot or all of that wall is fake having been built in the 80's. I had to laugh when some canadian got jailed ages ago for defacing it. . when it fact its anything but old. . there are numerous buildings and markets etc all over thailand which exaggerate their age for tourism some ancient statues are in fact only 5 years old. . the heavy rains wear things down quickly if its stone or woodwork
