A teenage girl almost lost her arm after being bitten by a green pit viper snake in Loei, the Isaan province of Thailand. She said she got 90 stitches and was under the treatment for one year and five months. A 19 year old girl, Kanyarat, posted a video of her 1.5-year-long treatment on TikTok on September 15. Pit vipers and their family are one of the most common biters in Thailand. Unlike most snakes they don't wander off if they sense a human approaching, they stay put and hidden close if someone comes close they instinctively strike.

Thailand has a poor record of dealing with snake bites. Some people even try to use a local "herbal" or TCM doctor before finally going to hospital where they then need to have the a it vipers and their family are on of the most common biters in Thailand. Unlike most snakes they don't wander off if they sense a human approaching, they stay put and hidden close if someone comes close they instinctively strike.

One wonders when this girl received the antivenom. The quicker the antivenom, the less necrosis etc is incurred
