New Zealand will become a republic Kiwi Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern admitted today, but not any time soon. The 42 year old New Zealand PM believes the southwestern Pacific Ocean Island country will ditch the UK monarchy in her lifetime but added she wasn’t going to rush into it at the moment. “There’s been a debate, probably for a number of years. But I don’t see it as a short-term measure or anything that is on the agenda any time soon. “There are so many challenges we face. This is a large, significant debate. I don’t think it’s one that […]

She'll be long gone before that happens.

www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/relationship-between-maori-and-royal-family-goes-beyon…

"Maori and Pakeha were basically equals on that level... Maori were now rangatira of the Queen." And still today, many Maori, including Kai Tahu, and especially many Maori leaders, stand firmly in favour of the reigning British monarch remaining New Zealand's head of state.

Of course it is up to New Zealand and any other country for that matter who they want as a head of state.

However at the moment you have King Charles and before that Queen Elizabeth who really do not interfere with politics. They will be replaced by someone who is voted for (most likely a politician) who you can bet your bottom dollar will interfere in politics.

Look at the long list of countries which have replaced the Royal family as head of state and then look at the nefarious activities of those who replaced them.

Bless the darling.  The views of the colonial population representative are for her and her people.  The Maori have a direct relationship with the Crown, and their treaties and agreements hold precedence over the uninvited foreign settlers' political views, so she best tread lightly.

New Zealand is an unusual case in these types of discussion. They do have a co-existent Maori Monarch and whilst no constitutional responsibility, the Monarch does have a substantial level of influence.

Both heritages are respected and you can see this in the way their National Anthem is sung as just an example.

Will they move away from the British crown? I Have no idea! It seems many Maori Kings and Queens have had upmost respect for the British Monarchy and co-existence in its mainly ceremonial role has worked relatively well and been respected.

I like the NZ model which can be found here:

https://www.republic.org.nz/faqs

Basically it replaces the Sovereign as Head of State with a Kiwi, maintaining the current structures etc.

How much do the various members of the British Commonwealth - Commonwealth realm, Commonwealth Republic, ...

What do these countries get out of being part of the British Commonwealth?
- UK Passport?
- guarantee Visa to travel to UK?

Current Commonwealth realms- UK, Canada, Australia, NZ, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, South Africa ...

PM Horse Face Ardern needs to go not the Commonwealth.

And before she goes she needs to give The NZ People back their firearms that she illegally took from them.
