What about the land mine "victims". During the 90's TV adds begged donations for the Cambodian land mine victims. They showed clips of children missing limbs. Since there weren't enough "victims" they had to create more. Orphans from Cambodia had arms and legs amputated and were distributed daily to various tourist sites and around embassies. One of the sites where the children were mutilated was outside Ayutthaya. A young girl escaped and wandered to the train station. Because of her condition and only speaking Khmer it was assumed she was a mental case. It took authorities too long to process. By the time she was able to lead them to the site it was abandoned. However, evidence remained.
