Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt warned polluters of the capital that they face heavy fines if they’re caught pouring oil down the city’s drains. The 56 year old city chief notified residents in the metropolis that they will be slapped with a 10,000 baht fine for dumping oil into Bangkok sewers. The Bangkok governor was reacting to pictures circulating on social media of restaurant staff pouring dirty oil down a manhole. This has been going on in Bangkok as for long as I can remember. I used to watch them pour everything down the drain from dem carts.

If it is down the drain, it's gone. So who cares?

It takes a very long time to change that mentality. Lots of subtle influencing. Being repeated over and over. For years, or decades.

Heavy fines will not work. There are always loopholes. And chances of getting caught are close to zero. Even with a lot of 'concerned citizens' waiting to report someone

There is a Vietnamese shop in my apartment building, and like all apartment buildings in this corrupt city Vancouver, it was built like shit

So the exhaust system sucks for the restaurant and massive amounts of smoke flow out into the sidewalk and street

 

That's a health hazzard, so many moms have to walk through that with their kids

 

I have called the city and they do nothing about it
