dont see anything about double pricing....odd

It's odd you don't know what a scam is 555

If the prices are posted, it literally the opposite of a scam

If you are too cheap to pay it, you don't have to...........hence not a scam

The TCC also asked the government to be more proactive in battling call centre scammers sending SMS messages and making phone calls to milk consumers out of money in various ways

How do these call centres know you've just spent all your money buying milk?

Haha

Funny you say that

I was watching something on scams in Italy

And they said don't eat at the restaurants that don't show prices on the menu

I was like, who the hell would do that???

Although I kinda did that in Dominican Republic

We were on a boat tour and the guy brought us to a beach restaurant

And we just ordered

We been there a week and everything was pretty cheap

So I didn't even worry about the prices

Then they really ripped us off

Chalked it up to my fault, and paid with very little argument

Why is there 8.?

One would suffice, you came to Thailand.

Is anything even legit in Thailand?

Example is to Check your bills in restaurants and bars is important to see if they overcharge or charge you with additional items you did not order.

Just watch your back in LOS...which makes it interesting and fun

Twice in the last 2 weeks I have been charged for foreigner entry at tourist sites, at 4 times the rate for a Thai.  Double I can come to the party but at 4 times the price????????

Both places I was the sole foreigner that was recognizable by ethnic origin and both places used "foreigner" wording on their entry price boards.

Interesting regarding ethnic appearance / origin.

Ubon Ratchathani Zoo unashamedly displays its entry fee in English: “Foreigner 150 baht , Thai 100 baht”. I went there with my Indonesian wife and told the ticket staff “Sorng kon”. She replied (in English) “250 baht”.

I guess if a visitor looks the part… 😂

Dual pricing sure is annoying. I don’t know if I’d call it a scam if they’re up front about it

More frustrating in that I live in thailand , associate as much as I can on an equal basis with those that I come into contact with daily but the Thai Govt and others deliberately discriminate (for money) based on racial grounds.

happens to be illegal here but hey i just live here.....a fool and his money are soon parted--bet the bargirls love u long time!....

A pretty slack article really.

I can mention a Thai scam that works well with tourists.

Tourists go to a site and are approached by a person in a uniform who explains the area is under repairs and closed but can take you to the other side, just follow me.👍

And don't ask me how I know.🙄

Nationality rather than race.

See BigHewer's post above regarding his Indonesian wife being charged Thai price, with no one questioning her nationality.
As he said, 'I guess if a visitor looks the part'.

That's a personal misjudgement, not government policy.

Based on race, not nationality.

I was refused entry to the aircraft carrier at Sattahip. The naval guy told me that foreigners weren't allowed on board.
I asked him why he had let a group of Chinese on board. "They're OK", he said.
