From what I see of this damage, I believe he hit her that fast she would have smacked into the bonnet & screen a& thrown many metres away!

Although I’m not an expert, but at a reasonable speed he probably would have seen her & if hitting her would have been at low speed!

Only guessing!

But that is some impact!

If anyone has ever put a dent in a car , they are minor at low speed!

Again, it is really up to the pedestrian in most cases to be careful as nothning changes with people driving styles here. Late at night, raining and her wearing black is not a good sign. Can't let your guard down.

Crossing a street in Bangkok without a traffic signal is like a game of frogger.... You have to dance around while the traffic just keeps coming. The traffic authorities answer to the problem (at one particular tricky intersection near my condo) has been to install handheld crossing flags that you can carry across and wave wildly as you pray the cars will slow down 🙄

That’s a joke right?

What are the Police going to do ?

They say they want zero deaths on the road?

You can’t just do nothing & expect drivers to slow down!

Needs to be heavy fines for 30kmh over speed limits and confiscation of vehicles if they can’t pay!

Police must do something to stop the speeding?

You are blaming this on the driver while ignoring that she was crossing a 3 lane road in the rain at night while wearing black clothing? Choose your battlefields better.

No joke. They have a tube zip tied to a pole on each side of the intersection. They placed 2 or 3  florescent handheld flags into the tubes that you can then use to wave wildly to make yourself seen while crossing. Crazy. I need to snap a photo 😃

Road rules in Thailand are treated as a mere suggestion, they are not enforced consistently so there is no incentive to change driving habits.

If they want to reduce the carnage they need to get serious about enforcing the rules over a prolonged period of time.
