A man shot three people, killing two and seriously injuring another in Ban Bueng district in the eastern province of Chon Buri on Saturday night. The gunman said he was drinking alone outside a convenience store when a group of men drinking around a nearby table criticised his personality. When there is a shooting in Thailand like this, the reaction is “what a whacko”, but in America the reaction reverts straight to gun control.

I know what you meant. The difference is that shootings in Thailand are often, rightly or wrongly, viewed as a provoked attack whereas the opposite is the often the case in the US mass shootings. They are massacres of people they have never seen before. And nowadays only mass shootings (4 or more victims) in the US get coverage, anything else is the cost of doing business. Sad state of affairs that is.

I know killing someone isn't the right thing to do.... But is there any criticism in the comments on the guys who just walk to a random guy and slap him in the face for no reason?
