Wooow. How its changed. I've been in Thailand for over 30 years and feel almost a sad nostalgia when looking at shots like this. Thank you Alavan.

Once lovely spot. Shame really. Used to love swimming here.

I think if I remember correctly, that photo is at least 12 years old. 2009

Yes! That seems about right. Only collapsed cave beach is still going and the restaurant there and canoe hire spot are very run down.

Its a shame the Island is overpopulated and a lot of rubbish lying around.

Agree, what was a pristine area 10 years ago is totally ruined.

Lot of folks don't seem to want to admits this is happening to Thailand but it is.

Its unfortunate. So much of the land has changed for the worst. I should scan some old photos and present them.

Where I live right on the outskirts of Bangkok ( I walk to Pathum Thani in less than 5 minutes) used to be farm land with lots of trees and fish/tortoises in the canal. Now its back to back overcrowded slums and the only animals remaining are  the mosquitos.

I came back to my room muddy and drenched from the construction site and headed straight for the shower. No towels in the bathroom so I pop my head out and see this. What are these  housekeepers thinking!?

From the front, not quite as phallic. I've been here 7 days -- don't they know that it's just me and a bottle of Thai whiskey?
