Warning - some may find the attached video distressing.

Early media reports are appearing of a security video suggesting the killing of two unarmed civilians by Russian soldiers.

The story was broken by CNN and the alleged video can be seen via the link provided. The two civilians have been identified as the business owner and a security guard. They can be seen on the business premises, responding to the Russian troops who appear to frisk them for weapons.

The reporting is that the soldiers asked for and were offered cigarettes. What can be seen is two men, turning their backs after the conversation with the troops ends and then walking casually away. The troops can also be seen to move away at that time.

However, as the two men are walking away, footage appears to show some soldiers turning back and appearing to shoot the men in the back. One is then seen, alleged to be the security guard, getting back to his feet and making his way back to the guardhouse.  It is alleged the man then called someone and Ukrainian troops responded but were unable to rescue either man due to the Russian presence at the time.

At a later time, when Russian troops have moved away, the man in the guardhouse was found by Ukrainian soldiers to have suffered significant blood loss, resulting in his death. The fate of the second man (the business owner) is not fully reported but he is believed to have died where he fell after being shot.

Much still needs independent verification and the Ukraine Prosecutor’s office has announced an investigation into potential war crimes being committed. At this time, Russia has not responded to the allegation.
