A Thai man shot dead his childhood friend, his friend’s wife and the couple’s 5 year old son at the family’s home in the central province of Pathum Thani at around 1pm yesterday. The shooting is expected to be a revenge attack since the perpetrator’s mother was recently arrested and sentenced to 25 years in prison for a drug crime which was allegedly committed by the perpetrator’s deceased friend. A 5 year old boy. This “person” will get a death sentence for sure even after he pleads guilty. I’d prefer he got a “never to be released” sentence but I think that is not an available sentencing option under Thai law. Even 3 x non concurrent death sentences means this “person” will be released one day and it won’t be in a body bag. 

There seems to be an increase in violent crime being reported over the last few weeks.

Revenge stabbings & shootings.

Is this normal and just being reported more or has something changed recently to create this belief that its okay to kill people because they have upset you or done something to make you angry.

10% of Thais legally own a gun. We clearly are not hearing 1% of the estimated 1,200 homicides committed annually in Thailand. The interwebs most recent crime figures seems to be 2017 and shows a significant fall in homicide. Maybe someone else’s can chime in with more recent figures?
