You continue to try to deflect.

I asked why you decided to attack the messenger rather than comment on the actual message.

Perhaps you might wish to take the opportunity to do so now?

I have noticed that you often use the word   “deflect” to ignore comments and in an attempt to direct attention away from questions. vlad mimcs you, albeit quite  poorly. And I already explained why I had nothing to say about his actual comments in my first reply to your post.

Bzzzzzt deflection.

Answered already. Go fetch.

No you have not answered. You did post a somewhat rude comment regarding his personal circumstances and indeed health but you deliberately avoided addressing what he actually said.

It would appear you do not wish to say anything about his comments due to the fact they completely undermine your position.

I gave up with Vlad when he went off on one about the Boer War (ridiculous enough) and didn't know that a musket was totally useless without gunpowder.

Russia calling, Russia calling, we will be visiting a Mariupol factory and doing some basic cleaning duties here ends this message. Sound Familiar Fanta.

The Ukrainian commander at Mariupol wants an imported clean up crew. He has as much chance of that happening as he has of retaking Mariupol from inside a bunker. Good on him for trying to save lives.

Or maybe he is saying “Ukraine is going to lose, sooner or later, so stop dragging this out, just let it happen and think of a happy place.” ??

It is safe to assume that the Russian Defence Minister has a better idea of how the war is really going than your typical Westerner does. Or perhaps Russia really is getting hammered, despite a lack of triumphant headlines and evidence to prove that, and he’s crying “not fair!”

Luckily the UK didn't surrender in 1940 and free forces from occupied Europe continued, or we all would be speaking German now.

Funny they say he is a general... but he never studied at a military school, never was in the army, just asslicker of Putin and politician.

I wonder how many neutrals were rooting for Germany to quickly take over Poland in 1939. That invasion was justified or condemned (depending on which side one was on). Which side were your parents / grandparents on?

Provocation? What crap. Putin is a deluded Cold War relic. His greatest fear is sheer Russian inadequacy in the face of the traction of western liberal democratic economic advancement. Tens of thousands dead. How can it ever be JUSTIFIED?

I went to high school in Germany. The 90s generation there is absolutely anti-war. Zelensky defies the ultimatum? Power to him and Godspeed for the coming battle.

Maybe the commander at Mariupol is fluent in Russian already?

He has been the Defence Minister since 2012 so I guess he picked up a few tips when he overheard people talking about Syria, Crimea and the separatists in Ukraine. He had a “heart attack” in March so he has probably forgotten it all anyway.

Ever been smacked around the back of the head with the thick end of a musket ?

I just love the thought of Putin frothing at daily continual embarrassments. Generals getting picked off on a daily basis because they're using comms no more secure than a teenagers iphone, units refusing to fight, cities which should be a walkover are pushing back and the whole world, well nearly, move towards making russia a pariah state for decades to come ! Absolutely love it. There's no better feeling than a demented bully getting his come uppence. By the way have Putins friends on here come up with a justification for the invasion of a democracy yet ? I don't have time to go through whole threads sadly.

Also a big thumbs up to Romania who are right now actually changing their laws in order that they can send weapons to Ukraine (previously it was illegal as Ukraine are not a NATO country) fantastic gesture.

At the end of the day, Zelensky is playing an absolute blinder whilst Putin is looking like a 10 year old out of his depth on Warcraft - it's just a shame tens of thousands have to die to feed his vanity !

Putin will shortly declare Donbass as 'captured' and then like lightening will declare victory, withdraw his troops asap and fund street celebrations etc etc and russian supermodels can get back to buying Prada - it's the only possible way he has to limit his total humiliation because the longer his billionaire mates are made to suffer, the closer that Polonium cup of tea is. The clocks ticking ....

Mariupol was heavily Ethnic Russian,  Russia- speaking, pro- Russia etc . No Longer pro-Russian I would wager.

Wondering how many others now of that profile ( 13 million across South & East Ukraine) remain pro-Russia or Separatist ? 50% ? 15% ? How many within the 10 million war refugees too ?

Russia has already offered and honored a surrender of 1.126 Ukrainian soldiers at Mariupol as well as 40,000+ civilians and escorted them to safety so that answers your questions. This refusal to admit defeat at Mariupol and save his own people by Zelenskky seems inexplicable and raises many questions by many people.

If I was a civilian trapped there I would wonder why President Zelenskyy - the leader of the “Servants of the People” party - has numerous times refused Russian ultimatums to surrender at Mariupol and has now left me to die underground with no hope of rescue. If I was a soldier trapped there I would wonder why 1,126 Ukrainians soldiers at Mariupol who recently surrendered, were unharmed as promised by the Russians and treated correctly as per the Geneva Conventions while I am being abandoned by my own leader to die. As a Ukrainian soldier not in Mariupol  I would wonder if I too will one day get the same treatment from my leader. As a Ukrainian civilian not in Mariupol I would wonder about the reasons civilians were and are not being evacuated from Mariupol by the Ukrainian authorities but are being evacuated by the Russians. As a MSM writer I would wonder how I could put any sympathetic spin on the repeated dismissals of ultimatums by Zelenskyy that will save his own civilians and soldiers in Mariupol from inevitable death. As an interested observer I would wonder if there is some actual truth behind Putin’s and others claims that the Azov Regiment are neo Nazis because they will not allow 1,000+ women, children and old men to leave. As a human rights observer I would have to consider the possibility that these civilians are being used as human shields, hostages by the Ukrainian commanders and are being used as sympathy fodder to. As a civilian of a country sending billions of dollars in aid and equipment I would wonder why the Ukrainian president is doing this. As a member of the EU I would wonder exactly who we are letting into our group. Personally I have a lot of questions. Do YOU have any answers?

Rather than issue questions, or “ wonder” , do research & make short clear factual statements, about the items you consider important

Find out why Ukraine will never join EU or NATO or what Zelensky is actually doing re. Mariupol.

I was replying to Vladimir. The resulting silence was enough of an answer. I don’t have all the answer so I ask questions. And I was on topic unlike some posters talking about NATO laid traps, WWII and motivations. So what Zelenskky is doing regarding Mariupol? That was my point exactly. I asked but the silence was deafening from the Angry Dad’s Army and our local military experts.

Putin messed up. He thought the Russian army would roll into Ukraine and Zelensky would flee the country, and a puppet government would take over. All Putin did was expose to the world his army was a paper tiger. Now he is stuck with an endless war.

The best outcome for Putin is a pyrrhic victory.
