I went to few in the 1980's, But one I did miss out on Rolling Stones in Sydney in 1995 but back to the OP, For me my favorite was Eurythmics in 1989 at the Sydney ET, Annie Lennox had this powerful voice that was better live than on the radio, She just had the place pumping.

One that I didn't suspect to be....

My wife really liked Bruno Mars

I thought he was OK, didn't really have an opinion on him

Songs ok

So I got us 6 row seats

It was hands down the best concert I've ever been to

I've never seen a band/act have more genuine fun singing and dancing than Bruno and his band

I find many times I go to a concert, you enjoy the band's known and popular songs and then there is a lull when they sing their lesser known songs

Not at this concert

Every song was truly enjoyable because if how much effort and fun they put into it

The best concert that I have ever seen was in Seoul, South Korea in the early nineties; Ray Charles and BB King.

It was surreal; the concert was held in an opera house, not some grungy club or arena, and the audience was about 95% Korean and the rest Westerners from various countries. You could see the incredible dichotomy upon entering; the Koreans were all in jackets and tie, the women in ball gowns, and the BWGs (Big White Guys) were in jeans and t-shirts.

BB King came on first, and as the sound of the first few chords began, I heard a voice (mine, actually) scream "We Love You, BB!". Every Westerner in the place leapt to their feet and started dancing while the Koreans politely clapped and stared at the weird BWGs grooving away.

Ray Charles opened the second set (he had to be guided to his piano) and filled the place with the smoothest Soul music known to mankind; even the Koreans were grooving in their seats.

Finally, BB King came back on stage with Ray Charles for the third set and the two of them started wailing out some raucous blues, and every (previously inhibited) person in the joint was dancing up a storm; it was clear that the Koreans really didn't know what hit them, and were helpless to do anything but dance and enjoy.

Every person in the place knew the ninety-nine names of God that night.

The unforgettable fire tour by U2 in 1984,  I had to look up the name of it on the net, I almost forgot that I went to see them,,, My best mate at that time had introduced me to the U2 album WAR, and then at the concert they played 90% new stuff😕 I didn't enjoy it but i can still boast that I saw it, LOL.👍

I can boast I got a U2 practice shut down!

I live across the street from the arena

And about 5 years ago U2 was kicking off their world tour in Vancouver

So they were in Vancouver for 2 weeks before the 1st night of their tour

And they practiced most nights at the arena

I don't think you can understand how loud they are with no fans in the building to muffle the noise

So all week I heard the same U2 songs at decibel levels

But they aren't allowed to go after 11pm

One night they were still going at 11:30pm

I called the arena and you heard them stop mid-song once the guy got off the phone  😉

Toss up between Queen at Milton Keynes Bowl (supported by Heart, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts and The Teardrop Explodes) and The Killers at Wembley.

That said, The Stranglers were excellent at St Andrew's Hall in Norwich - and Flock of Seagulls were excellent at UEA Norwich.

I’ve been to loads of concerts (though not many recently). The Stones, Sting (in Germany) John Mellencamp, The Cranberries, ELO. Others I can’t remember off the top.

The best concert I’ve been to was one I didn’t want to go to. I was working in Cairns (Australia) in 2013 and was at the casino for a meeting. I saw this old guy setting up equipment on the stage by the entrance. Felt bad, almost offered to help him.

The guys I was meeting with told me afterwards I should stick around for the free concert and reluctantly, I went back for a look. Just in time to see the old dude from earlier belt out his first song. Turns out it was the Aussie singer Darryl Braithwaite. I stayed, the crowd grew and the atmosphere was unbelievable. Everyone was into it

Without doubt it was Phil Collins at Wembley Arena. Next, The Commitments in a small theatre in York.

Worst was when I had to take my young delighter to see Westlife.  It was so bad that I left her with her Mother,  took my Kindle down to the foyer to read and tried to blank out the noise. That was a bad night for me, she loved it.

I will automatically leave any Phil Collins song on when it comes on

He is absolutely fantastic

As solo, with his group or in duos

I'm not a big Blues guy

I go to a conference in Chicago every year in January

And there is a famous Blues singer ,guitarist Buddy Guy

He's played with all the legends

Well he has his own club behind the hotel the conference is always at

And he's only there for December and January

People were telling me you have to go

I went reluctantly

And man was it awesome!

He's no nonsense

Telling all his stories

It is awesome, I go every year now

Robert Plant, 1983/1984, at Sydney E/T. Cant remember what year but at least I got to hear him back then just after Led Zeppelin finished up when that guy died. Cant remember Elton John being there, but as a 20 year old I was probably just scouting for skirt anyway.🙂

I've never been big on concerts but my two favorites were when I was in my very late teens. In the same year I saw Bryan Adams, which was good, but the one that I will remember forever was seeing Rush.

The Who, Tuesday 23rd December 1975, Hammersmith Odeon.

Saturday 13th July 1985 at Wembley wasn't bad either. And Queens follow up the next year ( Saturday 12th July) was also pretty mega.

Thinking of BigHewer's comment on Daryl Braithwaite  (saw The Shurbs in 1982 in Ballina, NSW), on close proximity  memorable gigs,  then Buddy Rich at Ronnie Scott's, most probably 1984. He did a 15 minute drum solo just playing a wooded bistro chair. Absolutely amazing.

I guess it still counts as a live performance not a concert. I had his album/the single for this song back in the early 1980's i had to pawn all my records for petrol money to get to my new job.
