News Forum - 110 bent immigration cops busted in visa scam swoop
Yes, I'm familiar with that process of changing your status from Tourist to Non Immigrant in order to apply for 1 year extensions of stay. Corruption is endemic throughout Thailand, especially throughout the government sector, just ask any Thai. -

News Forum - New law allows foreign talent to thrive in Thailand
I disagree with the author of this story. He states that "...it also shows a commitment to economic recovery and foreign direct investment. Experts, investors, executives and entrepreneurs for startups are allowed to work, invest, establish and oversee businesses in Thailand’s target industries, meeting BOI approvals set by the Cabinet." I really think it shows that Thailand's educational institutions, including universities, have greatly failed the people they are supposed to be preparing for their futures. Seeing how the BoI and the Thai government has previously set down rules for any foreigners in this country means that those "approvals" will be hard and financially demanding hoops to jump through. -

News Forum - ‘Buy insurance’ urges English tourist who crashed moped through window in Thailand
government hospital anyone, I paid 20,000 baht for a whole pregnancy. Luckily in this case her policy was valid every week a number of insurance companies don't pay out due to small print or undeclared medical conditions. Reading the small print and then discussing it before you take out the policy is now official and of course she had to pay it all first and then get it back. Now that's mad what if she didn't have it? Of course as someone in a local forum said here the other day. Thailand isn't the place to learn to ride a motorbike. I don't think I've ever heard of anyone driving into a window before.
