Chamcha Market

Recommended Posts

This delightful suburban market is far enough off the tourist tracks to be unique and rather special >  located to the east of Chiang Mai city, one requires a car or taxi to get there > https://www.facebook.com/ChamchaMarket

Set up in village-like splendour with a smooth concrete road running thru the centre, ample shade is provided by decorative awnings, umbrellas and many trees.  5 carparks are provided with the largest ones having ample shade and the smaller ones difficult to access from the busy pedestrian road.

Predominantly clothing, crafts, and food including french bakery items and Shan ethnic specialties, there are several coffee shops and a feature restaurant, Meena.

Bakery fresh chocolate brownies @ 40bt, delicious fried tofu, Shan style, from 50bt and other inexpensive items may satisfy some as you stroll on thru to Meena, a magnificent older styled restaurant amidst trees and water features with absolutely delightful staff and tasty food at reasonable prices.

If the men get a little bored, I'd suggest they head off into Meena as early as possible to secure a good table, it's a popular place for the locals every day, and very busy at weekends.

For the girls, there's plenty of quality locally made clothing of all styles - eg modern tops or blouses from 100bt.  We saw one group of girls clean out a whole stall at those prices.
