Should I book a hotel at Patong or Phuket town?

Are you coming on holiday, 1st time perhaps? 

Book Patong, Kamala, or any west side beach if wanting a holiday.

There is nothing of real intertest in the town.  Book as advised in the above post,  or better still, don't go to Phuket at all. Plenty of much better locations in LOS.

Actually the town has good dining options, interesting old architecture, some museums and galleries, as well as some interesting temples. Also cool street art if you like that type of thing. Life is not always just a beach, but sometimes it can be!
