Thaiger Posted February 22, 2022 #166980 Share Posted February 22, 2022 A Thai TikToker has shared a video of a street vendor in Phuket selling mangosteens at the rather steep price of 500 baht per kilogram, considered too expensive for Thai people (or anyone for that matter). Not surprisingly she found that her viewers also thought it the mangosteens were overpriced. The video features a local fruit vendor spruiking various kinds of fruits, but the footage focuses on the pile of mangosteens with […] The story Overpriced mangosteens in Phuket go viral on Tiktok – how much per kilo!? as seen on Thaiger News. Chatogaster Posted February 22, 2022 #167140 Share Posted February 22, 2022 It may be different elsewhere in the country, but I expect THB 40 - 60, depending on whereabouts in the season. Outside of the season, mangosteens are not to be seen (quite literally, since a price tag of 500 would cause immediate and permanent blindness).

Usually 3 kilo for 100 baht.

Grumpish Posted February 23, 2022 #167335 Share Posted February 23, 2022 Everything in Phuket is way overpriced. When the tourists are plentiful they can get away with it, and why not - but not when tourists are as thin on the ground as they are at the moment. But then there is also that odd Thai logic on pricing - no demand, too expensive, put the price up.
