News Forum - Thai cops go above and beyond to help Chinese tourist return home
I agree KR. I had a major problem with this in Patong trying to hire a motorbike. I went to three places and all insisted on keeping my passport. I remembered I had my second passport with me so decided to take that. As that wasnāt the one I used for entry to Thailand I figured if it got loads I could still get out. Even then it wasnāt enough as it didnāt have the entry stamp. I found a place in the end, but no way will I give my passport over. -

News Forum - Phuket and Krabi featured in new Czech film āOstrovā or āThe Islandā
The lead actor said: On my day off, I took a trip to the elephants, or the girls and I climbed the 1,237 steps at the Tiger Cave Temple Does she mean she went to Bangla road? She shouldnāt be promoting tourism with elephants either. Naughty lady -

News Forum - Thai cops go above and beyond to help Chinese tourist return home
Thanks Leah, nice to see a +ve story about the RTP for a change. One has to wonder if the BiB might have been so helpful toward a male tourist, or even whether the tourist was in fact a 'lady'. A good point to note IMO, is there should be no reason for a hire company to hold one's passport, a copy + deposit, that's all.- 1

News Forum - Thailand to expand major airports to deal with rising tourist numbers
200 million by 2031 !! That a 500% increase compared to 2019 which saw nearly 40 million arrivals and not all of them came in by air. This includes day trippers from Malaysia etc. The whole of ASEAN only had 133 million in 2019. I canāt imagine what places like Phuket and Pattaya will be like with 5 times as many tourists as now. It would be hellish! No way will they achieve 200 million without massive spending on infrastructure beyond the airports. At peak times there would be as many foreigners in the country as Thais. Thatās an invasion not a tourism industry. This number has to be wrong and is an ASEAN prediction. I read the other day they had a stretch target of 80 million by 2027. Thatās double what they expect in 2024. Where are all these high value tourists coming from. Donāt forget, a shift in the quality of tourists and tourist per head spending is also their stated policy. This new target seems to suggest that anyone will be welcomed irrespective of spending power. Perhaps their arithmetic is wrong again in that 80 million by 2027 and 100 million by 2031 would result in two flights per passenger and hence that would give 200 million flights. Even that is way too high. Hereās my optimistic predictions 2024 - 40 Million 2027 - 46 million 2031 - 55 million 200,000,000.
