I think the government are more in need of trying to get tourists for a start, then think about a fee, I notice they have not published anything about the tourists flooding into the country again since the quarantine ver 2.0 started again.

So if 20% is supposedly going to insurance for tourists does mean the current medical insurance requirements will be scrapped? And 20% for insurance + 50% for development of tourism (lol) does not equal 100%. Maybe TAT did the maths for this one.

An April Fools Joke? ….. as the joke now seems to be on the government department tasked with implementing this. Eyes seem bigger than belly as the quote goes!

Of course not, it's all about scamming and ripping off incoming tourists to false positive so they can be forced to go to hospital & pay upfront between B150K-B300K telling them that their COVID-19 insurance not covered between AXA, Tune IPass or Lumen. This is Thailand's solution so they can recoup money lost for the last 2 years and they are about to lose incoming tourists by going to Philippines or Cambodia.

Until such time as this law is gazetted, airlines will not be collecting this fee in their fares, many of which are sold months in advance.  It requires amendments to the various booking systems in use by airlines and takes time to implement those changes and actually begin the collection process.

June or July could see a start but this is Thailand so ....
