The Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration recorded 3,355 new Covid-19 cases today and 17 coronavirus-related fatalities, raising the total case count since the start of the pandemic last year to 199,264 confirmed infections and the virus-related death toll to 1,466. Thailand now has 39,854 active cases, a downward trend over the past week. Bangkok remains the epicentre of infections with 925 cases recorded today

Sorry, if the bold italics are too much for your eyes, no doubt in search of good news, but only yesterday, the Thaiger reported . . .

. . . as PM Prayut Chan-o-cha took to Facebook yesterday to announce that many Covid-19 restrictions will be lifted . . . PM Prayut said that the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration and the Ministry of Public Health both agree that Covid-19 infections and outbreaks 'are coming under control'.

And I commented . . .

This proposal beggars belief, with Bangkok's new infections averaging almost 1,000 per day, as they have been for the past month and the 3rd wave clearly far from coming under control . . . PM Prayut and the CCSA clearly have a questionable notion as to what 'coming under control' means

And, today, the Bangkok figure is on the up again, at 925

How can these people get things so clearly wrong?
