Understanding my visa choices...advice please!

Hello!

I am travelling to Thailand in July 2022 and I am trying to work out which visa I should get. Deciding between the regular Tourist Visa, or the Special Tourist Visa. I feel a bit confused about the STV and what it actually offers. While Test & Go is back up and running, allowing for quarantine free travel to all areas of Thailand, the STV still seems to state the 7 days quarantine is required. Also, it says that we need to provide proof of accommodation for the whole of the trip? Considering we would like to travel around, without having too much planned in advance, it seems a bit crazy to have our hotels etc planned and booked for the whole 3-9 months.

Can anyone clarify if I am just reading this wrong and misunderstanding the requirements for the STV. As if those two things are necessary, we will likely just go for the regular tourist visa and it seems a lot simpler.

Thanks in advance everybody!

Regular Tourist Visa will permit a stay of 60 days + 30 day extension, total 90 days.

The METV may be available again.

That was my go to visa for years. I hope it back as an option when I return late year.

For a long time the Thai Embassy London stated the METV was temporarily suspend - not so anymore.
The STV was it's temporary replacement.
