Retiring and moving to Thailand are life changing events. As such, it puts a significant change on people.

 Imagine getting up every day and going to work. It might not be the best but it's your routine. Retire and you have time on your hands and golfing daily gets boring. So you move to Thailand and find true love you think. But, when that doesn't work your alone and lost. It can be a Hugh strain.

Those that have Thai wives for several years are much better off, but still need to fill the void from not working.

It's a Hugh problem with no apparent solutions.
