Was he looking at his phone? My GPS speaks out directions ("Turn left in 50 meters"). Was he listening so hard he couldn't see the huge pond in front of him?

GIve that GPS back, mate. If it did not show and tell you about the curve, ....

Oh, but perhaps his focusing on it means, he was either just trying to set it up, but not on the roadside, or it is just an excuse for watching a movie, or chatting on Line or ....?

Selfrightousness sure is prevalent on this thread especially concerning maps showing roads classified as soi or less which are non-existent in Thailand.

Maybe your right, maybe it’s like flying Farang from Thai Condos. But like the Flying Farang stories (were they pushed) the stories start somewhere ……..

Good point. But if you are in a dirt road area why are you relying on GPS? Shouldn't you be sight navigating at that point?

Unless there was dense fog or heavy rain blocking visibility to the massive patch of water ahead, he should have been carefully *looking* at the road, na?

No mention of this driver being charged with reckless driving/driving without due care and attention, etc.

I have a friend who is a police captain. We were traveling to Hua Hin from Bangkok. He kept directing me west instead of south. I asked him several times why he was giving me inaccurate directions. His reply was "This is Thailand" how do you know Thailand".  My reply, "All north/south roads are odd numbered. All east/west roads are even. Therefore we are traveling west and not south. We stopped bought a paper map, after studying it for 1/2 hour he begged me not to tell anyone he didn't know the simplest rule of navigation. TIT !
