Once again an utter pig's breakfast of a decision. And it comes too late for the 4 friends from the EU who originally planned to be here from yesterday. They changed their 4 month stay in Thailand to the Carribbean. So a significant loss to Thai tourism.

Yes four people will make a significant hole in the thousands who still come to Thailand. ☺️

The bottom line is the current administration is handling the problem within its abilities. Hence the endless cross briefing from tourism, health, disease control and the centre. Dysfunctional is as polite as it can be labeled.

The loosers as always are ordinary Thais struggling to maintain a reasonable standard of living. Sadly the future is not looking bright. Regional neighbours are making significant inroads into the tourism market by simply being more welcoming.

Ludicrous alcohol selling times in shops and other asinine regulations put in place by a detached elite show a complete ignorance of making the country tourist friendly and unsmiling unpleasant immigration staff simply add a cherry to the cake.

Sadly I fear that the goose has decided it will lay its treasure elsewhere and the idiocy of seeking high level tourism is as hollow as the amount these high-enders will put into the economy. The money spent in their hotels is off shore as will be the majority of what they would spend on their plastic cards. I challenge those who dreamt up this cunning plan to demonstrate the trickle down or how they intend to attract this high end discerning clientele. Over to you TAT etc.

Great points - it's ordinary workers and small businesses who are the weakest players in this game and suffer first and most.
