Whether the man intended to turn himself in and changed his mind or used the phone call to the police as a ploy to buy himself some extra time to escape 

Buying time was my idea.

Also the location of the car is not necessarily pointing in the right direction. Aside that this pier is 'pointing' to Coconut Island, boats can go from there around it, direction to Krabi or such.

We'll see where they will catch him. Probably somewhere with family!
