I am really pleased to see the Omicron spike start to appear in the Thai stats, but not for any bad reason.

In the UK Omicron is quickly displacing Delta with 96% + of cases now Omicron.

Not only are very few people getting badly sick with Omicron in the UK, but the very few that require hospital attention have almost all got one thing in common - they are morbidly obese.

In a lean nation like Thailand this variant should be welcomed with open arms - with very few people getting Covid a second time (among recent infections in South Africa, only 1.2% had been previously infected) this should be the end game for the pandemic.

Time to stop running scared of this bug and let Omicron pass through the Thai population, so everyone can move on and return to normality.
