What is it like driving into Phuket?

Recommended Posts

There is only one or two ways to drive onto Phuket Island right?

Anyway what is it like to ride a motorcycle across that bridge? Is it like Check Point Charlie with a gate and guards that stop everyone and ask for your identity papers and some vaccination status?

does anyone here drive over that bridge every day? what is it like now? anyone go there with out of province plates?

If I am stopped and make a run for it will I be shot in the back like Frank Sinatra in Von Ryan's Express?

Only the one way.

My experience at New Year was that they stopped some vehicles, but not all because it was so busy.

Maybe they're stopping all now it's not so busy.

There is a place right by the checkpoint area to do an ATK for the unvaccinated for 200 baht I think.

I also have no confidence in the ability of the Military Police to understand the documents written in English and Arabic that I showed him .. 😆

Usually the checkpoint is about 1klick behind the bridge.

At normal times most often you didn't even see officers. Because "ron", "athid", "rottic'

With officers, mostly only the right lane got "checked" (shaded space), only few got inspected.

How that is right now? No idea, but the checkpoint is not in the media, so I expect it back to (the new) normal
