News Forum - Study finds Johnson & Johnson booster 85% effective against severe Omicron

Recommended Posts

A South African study has found that a booster dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine is 85% effective at preventing hospitalisation from the Omicron variant. According to an AFP report, researchers compared 69,000 healthcare workers who’d been given 2 doses of the vaccine, versus a group of unvaccinated people. The findings show that when a booster is administered between 6 and 9 months after the first dose, protection against hospitalisation increases over time, up to 85% around 2 months after the booster dose. South Africa has reported 3.4 million infections and 90,000 deaths since the start of the pandemic. […]

The latest findings may help to revive the vaccine’s reputation after the US recommended mRNA vaccines instead of Johnson & Johnson, due to the risk of rare blood clotting with the latter

Not quite correct - while the 'rare blood clotting' was a factor, it was mainly because the mRNA vaccines are more effective.

Poolie....the baby powder is good....don't forget the J&J Baby powder. It doesn't stop Covid...but it does stop nappy rash 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I should sprinkle some in my eyes then, 'cos some of the sh**e I read on here could lead to contamination.

It should be obvious to anyone with half a brain by now that we are not going to vaccinate our way out of this.  Some countries are already talking about 4th jabs.  If that isn't enough to convince some people of that then nothing will.  Also, everyone who wants be vaccinated already has so no need to keep fearmongering and spreading false info thinking that will encourage more anti-vaxx idiots to get the jab.  They made their choice.

Promoting a natural immunity might be a more practical way.

No, no, no, Khun Rain....🤓

There's all those vaccines to be flogged, papers written & profit for the 'health' bandwagon.

Interesting slight dip in those numbers recently. Not significant but one lives in hope.

Lifestyles, diet and natural low-grade immune systems might be a principle concern.

Not a terribly healthy society to begin with -

Just require any mild viral condition to place itself into the masses.....have anyone noticed that they're the most vulnerable civilisation during this so called epidemic?

A 100 years back a 'flu' killed millions, 300+ years back the Black Death killed multi-millions, we are fragile mortals, no getting away from that....

Some groups are more fragile than others - so it's been proven.

Was the virus, which allegedly caused the Spanish 'flu ever isolated?

I'm not sure where you're talking about, but that's certainly not the case here in Thailand - particularly with the vaccine of their choice.

Though, the availability of particular vaccines and choices changed dramatically a few months ago - whereas, early on, one was limited and received what they gave ya.

Sorry, but however you spin it very few people here have had their vaccine of choice, particularly both jabs.

It's simply not true to suggest that all or even most - or even half - of those here who want to be vaccinated have been.

Many had Sinovac or Sinopharm as there was no choice, and even those who had 2 x AZ were lucky. Now many who want Pfizer or Moderna can't have it yet because even if it's available there isn't a long enough gap between doses yet for them to have a first or second mRNA dose as their third (or fourth) dose.

That may not happen for at least six months, and in the meantime many of those who want to be "fully vaccinated" are lucky to have had a single dose of Pfizer but they're officially 'triple jabbed' with a 'booster dose' even if the first two were Sinovac and useless.

How did that work out for the 5 million unvaxxed people killed by it?
