"A government spokesperson said that those who are not registered to the Social Security Fund to receive the cash payout have until the deadline on January 14 to get on the relevant list. Organisations that represent the entertainment and nightlife sector and are registered with the Ministry of Interior or the Department of Business Development can certify workers in order for them to claim the payout. Performers like singers and musicians for example would register for certification from the Musical Association of Thailand."

I have feeling registrations are about go up... sounds like a good compliance tool? Reminds of the strings attached Universal Basic Income governments are beta testing globally. It's one way to get your population to fall into line.

Thai government do the most insane things. Why are these legit workers working in entertainment industry not registered? Waitress, Singers, etc... If they pay tax and are registered they are entitled, else why support these pests.

A lot of the "night ladies" don't want to be known to the government or to anyone else that might make them look bad to their community or family. This is a bit of a joke. At least they are giving them 2 weeks to get on the list (should they want to) for the 5000 baht.

Wonder how the bar girls register?

Technically they were employed by the bar who collect "bar fine" if they score a 'date'.

Na, they are all freelancer.

The only 'registered' one is usually the girlfriend of the boss, who is the boss for the girls, and just to get the health care

Just to the registered, that are perhaps the few in charge at the bars, girlfriends of the 'money in the back', not reaching the majority of the 'night life workers'.

But that is not the fault of the gouvernment. Even the garkitchen on motorcycles like the advantage of not have to pay taxes on wheelbased businesses earnings. So they can't complain that they are left behind now, I think.
