Any recent experience with the LTR - Wealthy Pensioners?
Well do not want to argue the merits... it fits me... I think the 50k baht is worth it to get a 5 year (renewable) and only have to check in 1/year (unless I leave, it resets), fast track, multi-entry, ... (Less hassle than the Non O retirement - IMHO). -

Why? Like the Elite Visa, it's merely a new money making process for the Authorities and a waste of money, but up to you OP. If you have money to spare then go for it. Personally, I only transfer to Thailand what I use to live and/or what I can afford to write off when it all goes pear shaped, or when you realise that you are not going to get what you expect, or were promised . -

Any recent experience with the LTR - Wealthy Pensioners?
I think I may apply for the LTR- Wealthy Pensioners (as it fits my needs best). I seem to meet all the requirements as listed here: https://ltr.boi.go.th/index.html (See below as I copied them.) When I get through the initial process or application and documents, and they are checked, I understand I then need to make an appointment to the Thai Consulate. I live in the northeast USA and it appears I need to go to the NYC Thai Consulate. My question - after I am approved how do I make an appointment at the NYC Thai Consulate, and how quickly can I make the appointment (I am trying to schedule a flight to Thailand also)? (Anyone had experience?) Also I saw something about getting the LTR as an e-Visa.... how would I know if I can qualify to do this all online? My income is now Social Security and under the $80k but I have a few large IRAs that I withdraw from. I assume just showing those statements would be ok to meet the $80k threshold? But my withdrawals vary by time of year, etc. (Assume they may want to see some withdrawal statements, etc.?) (Unsure how they define "pension" as here in the USA there are few pensions anymore... they have been phased out...now people may have an employer-sponsored or individual retirement account like a 401k, IRAs, etc.) ------------------------------------------------------------------ Wealthy Pensioners --Retirees aged 50 years and older who have an annual pension or stable passive income --Minimum unearned or passive income* of USD 80,000 / year at the time of application (Note that earned income and salaries WILL NOT be considered for the personal income requirement for wealthy pensioners) --In the case that unearned or passive income is lower than USD 80,000 but not lower than USD 40000, the applicant is required to make additional investments of USD 250,000 combined in Thai government bonds OR direct investment in companies registered in Thailand OR Thai property --Insured under a health insurance covering a minimum of USD 50,000 OR currently receiving social security benefits in Thailand OR deposit and maintain at least USD 100,000 in bank account balance under the applicant’s name for no less than 12 months **unearned or passive income includes, but are not limited to pension, rental, realized capital gain, dividend, and interest payments --Please note that the result of the qualifications endorsement for LTR Visa is valid for a period of 60 days after the Notification of qualification endorsement for Long-Term Resident Visa is issued. Therefore, please make an appointment and collect the visa before the result expires, otherwise you must apply for the qualifications endorsement again. -

With the poor to very poor air quality every day I am not sure it would be my first choice. I like Bangkok and it has a lot going for it but for me there are much better cities out there.
