Business leaders in Pattaya have joined a chorus of tourism operators around the country who are pleading to be included in the sandbox scheme. Businesses are expressing despair and frustration since the government suspended the Test & Go entry scheme citing concerns about the Omicron Covid-19 variant. "Business leaders urge government to include Pattaya in sandbox entry scheme"

This idea would mean that Bangkok would be sharing tourist dollars with Pattaya, and that would be against the Prayut government's policy of creating The Kingdom of Bangkok and Surroundings.

C'mon, do you not understand that the Bangkok middle class comes first?

OMG I  thought Pattaya was high risk.

Pattaya is already devastated. Even with "test & go", not many foreign tourists were going. On the weekends they're getting some BKK people, but it's not enough.

From eyewitness accounts: About 2/3 of shops that depend on tourists (within Pattaya 3rd Rd to Beach Rd and N. Pattaya Rd to S. Pattaya Rd) are closed. And we're not just talking bars, cafes and massage shops. Even 7-11s and Family Marts.
