Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul will propose the cancellation of the Test & Go quarantine exemption programme to the Cabinet during the meeting today, according to reports in Thai media. The proposal will need to be approved by the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration, and an official order will need to be published in the Royal Gazette before the scheme is cancelled.  The Test & Go quarantine exemption scheme allows vaccinated travellers from approved countries to enter Thailand with just an up to one day stay in quarantine while they wait for their results from an on-arrival RT-PCR Covid-19 test. Kind of curious on how Thai health officials are determing that the CVOID imported into the country is the Omnicron variant?  See below -  article posted by a doctor in India.

*RT-PCR tests can only confirm infections and are not designed to determine the variant causing the infection. To determine that, a genome sequencing study needs to be done.

However, not all infected samples undergo genome sequencing as it is a slow, complicated, and expensive process. Only a small subset of positive samples — about 2-5% — is sent for gene analysis.

Cats out of the bag.....Nothing will stop this, look at the daily statistics.  Selecting low risk countries for Test & Go will be meaningless in less than two weeks, there won't be any meaningful low risk countries to pick.

Time to focus on the death rate and not the number of cases.  Get the shots, good meds for treatment, and get on with life, hopefully this keeps it mild to moderate and becomes endemic before the Thai New Year.

So much for their well laid plans of a grand reopening scheme - which were quite chaotic from the start.

For the last several months, all was approached with the usual knee-jerk reactionary responses......nothing truly reasonable was ever proposed or strategized. And we shouldn't expect any other convoluted schemes to fair right in the immediate future.

They've clearly shot themselves in the foot and such recovery, that they dreamed up, is definitely on hold well into the first or second quarter of 2022.

Thaithink authorities and elitists circles are mismanaging the game, which could've been easily rendered.

No. There were and are health ministers in the US, UK or Germany, which were and are much more incompetent than him.
