The prison riot in Krabi is now “under control,” according to a government spokesperson. Dozens of inmates started rioting last night at around 9pm, starting fires and destroying property to demand equal treatment for prisoners infected with Covid-19. Hundreds of officers were deployed to the scene and the director-general of the Department of Corrections even travelled to Krabi to help manage the situation. The reprisals for this will be harsh. Multiple criminal charges, extra jail time, blocked from royal pardons, stripped of any privileges they may have earned, parole guaranteed to be refused, confined to punishment cells and that’s just for starters. 2 years into the pandemic and the most unvaccinated and uncared for section of the community under fear of death from blatant neglect are forced to rise up, all the while knowing what the consequences will be. 
They are criminals and I probably wouldn’t piss on them on the street but I can’t help but think “you poor bastards”.
