The Defense Ministry says insurgents detonated the explosive along a railway in Pattani, a province by the Malaysian border with ongoing violence and attacks related to the religious separatist insurgency. The Defence Ministry of Thailand chastised the insurgents for attacking innocent people on board, calling it “inhumane,” according to Ministry spokesperson Gen Kongcheep Tantravanich. PM Prayut Chan-o-cha, who also serves as the Defense Minister, has ordered increased monitoring on the southern route to safeguard commuters who rely on trains. The […]

Terrorists seizing an opportunity to strike against defenceless people. Then slinking back into the shadows!

Actually this can be looked at from many angles and one is not snow white untainted.

There is always another side to the story. But this is not the way to garner support for a cause! And it never will be! There is a line that has been crossed here and it has only damaged any cause that the perpetrators were trying to advance....

By fighting you mean slaughtering innocent people including kids, monks and teachers as well as soldiers. That's jihad and will get them nowhere.

despite the means and the perps.but no thais should be occupying those lands. those that do, know the risk.

and to put their women and kids in harms way is inexcusable. those insurgents view thais as invaders who appeared one hundred years ago and occupied land in malay possession and habitation for a thousand years. these rebels have decided that their methods are the only way to handle an intransigent authoritarian thai govt. which is incapable of identifying them, stopping them or negotiating. northern ireland it aint.

Not occupied lands it's part of Thailand. Parts of other countries used to be Thai soil, would that justify Thais going on the slaughter to liberate former territory? maybe the Brits should start a terror campaign to get back the lands the Americans 'stole' off them!

dont be absurd. away with your false historical analogies.americans had occupied their land for 150 years before ejecting their uk overlords. three entire thai provinces (entire malay Pattani kingdom) with then zero thai habitation, were annexed / stolen from the malay people there only in 1902 after thai invasions since 1786. imagine France invading / annexing SE England under some corrupt political deal. Would you expect the displaced English not to respond with extreme violence ?

Certainly the invading thais would have been just as brutal with the displaced malays as the present day malay insurgents are with them.as no doubt present thais would be….if they could catch anybody down there….thai army the most useless ever counter- insurgency force….good at shooting their own unarmed civilians though……cant imagine why any thais are actually settled down there….they certainly know the risks.
